Fresh Salad Picked From My Porch

I got all excited at the garden store when I saw leaf lettuce growing out of the top of a plastic bag full of soil and ready to be taken home.   All I would have to do is take it home and put it in a container.  I mean salad can't get any fresher than walking out the door and picking it.  And it only cost $5.99 for the double plant.

I actually had to use a larger container than I thought I would.  I decided to just put it all in one container.  I already had this beautiful one on the porch and I just dropped it in.

I have had so much fun going out and picking my salad.  It feels like I am really doing something good for myself and doesn't it look pretty?  I'm hoping that having it on the porch will keep the rabbits out of it.  I have to admit that I am guilty of putting lettuce in the fridge and it going bad before I get to it.  This should rectify that problem, as long as I keep my plant watered it will be ready when I am.  I actually have eaten more salad because of it and eating more veggies is a good thing.

Leaf lettuce, english cucumber, and cherry tomatoes.  Now I'll add a little dressing.  Yum! Here's to eating healthy.   -  Marianne
