Beautiful Gardens Are A Labor Of Love
It takes a lot of tender love, care, and patience to cultivate a beautiful yard and garden. When we look at the end product it seems effortless like it was created by it's own choosing. However the tools, all gathered up before they are put away, tell the true story of the toil it takes to make it happen.
These pictures are beautiful to me. I took these pictures after returning home on a day that my husband had spent a long day working in the yard. I thought they really told the story of the love and care he has always given to our yard and continues to give to our yard.
It was all started from scratch when we built our home. Yeah we had the basic foundational plants put in during construction but the masterpiece of each individual bed, the focal fountain, the trees and flowers planted are all his inspiration. Because of this love and care every spring I have the most beautiful view outside my bedroom window. It's truly a gift I look forward to. I can sit on my front porch and soak in the greenery and relax to the sound of the water falling from our fountain. I once reminisced about the beautiful pink dogwood that was in the front yard of our first home and the next trip to the garden store revealed his purchase of a pink dogwood to be established at this home. Another gift from my gardener. Every season equally offers something to inspire and astonish.
My dear Grandmother admired his work and always found pleasure in gifting him plants we talked about adding to the yard. The presence of the golden chain tree, bradford pear, and many others keeps her spirit alive in our yard. We have many plants that were shared with us from others yards and we have shared with others. That's another thing I think is special about the process of building a yard and garden, the sharing process.
A garden takes a lot of patience, something I am usually a little short on but my husband seems to have in abundance. Guess that makes me a lucky girl. I've come to realize that it is a process that should be embraced more like a journey. What fun would it be if it were finished, never changed, was never gifted something new? So I will cherish these photos with the tools that tell the real story of the work and love that has been put into our garden and provided so much beauty. I will also be deeply grateful that my life has been enriched by it all. - Marianne
