Share Natures LIVING COLOR With Young Readers
LIVING COLOR by Steve Jenkins is a fabulous study on natures love and use of color. All directed toward young readers. Children are naturally attracted to color but the stunning illustrations guarantee enjoyment by all ages.
I bought this beautiful book for my granddaughter a first grader who is in love with nature and so excited about her new found ability to read. I gave it to her when I picked her up one afternoon to take her to dance. She was so excited about the book that although it is not written on a first grade level she charged ahead tackling words as I drove. I got tickled as she read about a poisonous creature and then drew a breath and repeated "poisonous" as the meaning sunk in.
Here is a sample of natures red offerings. I have a special passion for dragonflies so I was intrigued to read about the "scarlet percher dragonfly" that when full grown changes to red from yellow-green.
On the green page I learned about leafy sea dragons, chameleons, tiger beetles, caterpillars and more.
I think the more children can learn about our amazing world the more likely they are to appreciate it and take care of it. This will be a book that we look at in bits and pieces but I know it will be a book that we go back to again and again.
As I check out Steve Jenkins website I see a few additional books that we can look forward to purchasing in the future. Check it out for yourself.
Just for fun I thought I would introduce you to my photography assistant Ethan. Anytime I photograph in my yard Ethan comes along to help. Well, I am not sure you can call it help because he likes to get in the shots. Camera envy. I think he approves of this book so your cat may like it too.
I hope you enjoy LIVING COLOR. - Marianne
