Including natural elements and materials, whether real our faux, in interiors adds warmth and interest. There is a certain comfort we humans feel when we bring the outdoors in. A color palette of wintery white and neutrals makes a cozy statement and allows the beauty of each object to stand out. I know what you may be thinking but for me (when done correctly) white is a color choice not the lack of color.

As you have probably noticed my personal style is eclectic which allows me to be more driven by objects and elements that I am drawn to and not by style accuracy. I find it more interesting. This can work for you too giving you a more collected look verses a bought the set off a showroom floor look.

These rustic natural tree stumps above are tagged as side tables. My first impression was to use them as little stools to tuck under a table and pull out when your gathering has more people than your room has seating. I actually have a spot where I could use one as a table right now. These are available through West Elm and I was pleased to find there was a store close by in Durham NC. I still prefer to shop the old fashioned touchy feel-y way.

The combination of rough planks and metal hinges on this cabinet is a textural feast. Often men are attracted to and feel comfortable with natural materials. Too often we only incorporate a woman's perspective in interiors. It never hurts to provide a good mix. My husband was really drawn to this sideboard. Too bad we do not have any place to put it. We never seem to have enough storage and this would be a great option.
Speaking of my husband, who is that handsome man trying out that leather chair? Yes, that is my better half and frequent companion on my little outings. We are in need of a few occasional chairs and are definitely looking at some smaller options. This chair was perfect for just relaxing. It wrapped you like a glove and had a tilt to the back that I think I could even sleep in. However, I am looking for more of a book/ipad reader comfort in a chair. I do love leather though used as an accent.
Sticks are wonderful because of their organic nature. I've shared before how much I like them. They add interest, movement and texture. They can be purchased or gathered, bundled or branched.
I'll end with this beautiful floor lamp that appealed to both my husband and me. You could hear the gears working in our heads as we tried to figure out where we could use it. Something would have to go for anything else can come in. The magic of this piece is the combination of the feminine and the masculine, the glam and grounded, the crystal and metal.
