FALL CELEBRATIONS

Fall offers us so many wonderful opportunities to get together with friends and family. I try to enjoy the preparations as much as the entertaining it self. It has truly been added fun to include my granddaughter in the process whenever possible. With the family growing I will have lots of little helpers before long.

I need to give a disclaimer at this point, I am not claiming to be revealing anything original on my part. I get inspiration from anywhere and everywhere. Sometimes I follow it exactly and sometimes I put my own spin on it. Being a "visual addict"(that's what I call it)I am also addicted to magazines, blogs and the world around me. Keep your eyes open because you may be surprised where and when you will find your next inspiration. I hope you will find just a little here.

After rounding up inspiration I gather up my supplies.

Do a little decorating to get you in the mood. The crazy eyes in the bird cage was just a moment of whimsy on my part and never failed to make me smile. I saw an article with cute bean bags and created my own out of fabric bought at Hobby Lobby. These were used for kids bucket toss and adult corn hole. Buckets were bought at Target.

I try to go ahead and have as much ready as possible, lay out materials and then bring in the helpers.

Finished Ghost Pops. These are easy to make. Melt almond bark or vanilla candy, use a chocolate drop for the eye, and add the stick.

This snack was delish! the perfect balance of sweet and salty. It was a big hit.

Cat cupcakes were perfect for a little one to decorate.

These Frankenstein cupcakes and skeletons are more tedious and the responsibility of decorating these was given to some young adult recruits. The magazine I copied this from used a pan that had small rectangles to make the Frankensteins. A rectangular head helps to pull off the effect. I was never able to locate a pan like that and just used one for round muffins. I think they are still cute.

The mummy dogs were a great hit with the kids. Just buy crescent rolls, lay out on cutting board, cut into strips(I used my Pampered Chef rotary pizza cutter), and wrap strips around the hot dogs.

Table clothes were made with close-out fabric and wide rick rack was sewn to edges.

This is one of the best times of the year to entertain outside. Nature is beautiful and the hot days of summer have gone.

Time to eat!

Snow White, Dorothy, and other super hero's and princesses were among the guests.
